La Bobotează, după Liturghie, preoții sfințesc apa, iar în multe localități slujba se ține la malul unei ape. Tradiția aruncării crucii în apă, după care se aruncă tinerii, este răspândită în toată țara.
În Biserica Romano-Catolică, pe 6 ianuarie se serbează Epifania (Bobotează), cu accent pe venirea magilor.
