The Muslim place of prayer; in Dobruja it is also called a geamie.
Moscheea are o sală de rugăciune acoperită cu covoare, fără scaune și fără imagini; direcția spre Mecca (qibla) e indicată de nișa mihrab. Afară se află minaretul și, adesea, fântâna pentru abluțiuni (șadârvan).
Cele mai cunoscute moschei din România sunt în Dobrogea: Moscheea Carol I (Moscheea Mare) din Constanța, Moscheea Esmahan Sultan din Mangalia (1575), cea mai veche din țară, și geamiile din Babadag, Tulcea, Medgidia.
La vizitare: descalță-te la intrare, poartă haine care acoperă brațele și picioarele; femeile își acoperă părul. Evită orele de rugăciune, mai ales vinerea la prânz.
