Hanukia este un sfeșnic cu nouă brațe: opt pentru cele opt zile și unul pentru lumânarea „slujitoare” (șamaș), cu care se aprind celelalte. Se mănâncă mâncăruri prăjite în ulei, în amintirea minunii uleiului.
