Adventul (din latină: „venire”) începe cu a patra duminică dinaintea Crăciunului. Coroana de Advent, din crenguțe de brad, are patru lumânări. În Transilvania, tradiția a venit prin comunitățile germane și maghiare și a devenit cunoscută în toată țara.
